Sara's birth story
I was 10 days past my due date and being pressured by the docs to induce. I wanted to go into labor naturally so I was waiting it out as long as possible. I tried acupuncture to help with the induction. God may have used this tool to help me as my water broke the morning after my third treatment. My water broke at 1am. I called my hubby to come home from work. I was excited! We stayed home till 6:30pm as I was finally in a solid active labor pattern. I wanted to stay home as long as possible because I wanted to do things differently than I did with my first birth. With my first birth, I went to the hospital right away, was induced after 24hrs and had my daughter 2 days after I was induced. I did receive an epidural with my first birth. With birth number one, I learned I don’t care for hanging out in hospitals much and prefer the comfort of my own home. So with baby number two, I did what was more comfortable and relaxing for me. This is so key to be relaxed before and during labor! Anyway, with baby number two, we got to the hospital at 7pm and I had Luke at 9:30 pm. From 7pm to 9:30pm, it was very intense! I had my hubby and my doula Katie by my side. I honestly can say from 7pm on, I did not think I could have Luke naturally, which was the desire of my heart. I was thinking about the long labor I had the time before and was scared that my current labor would be long again. God really taught me the biggest lessons of my life: With God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26) and that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). It did not work out for me to take medicine during my labor. I had my beautiful baby boy (8.5lbs) naturally and I am so thankful I did! Boy did God grow my faith. Only He can see the finish from the start and my job is just to trust Him. This was one of the most amazing things Jesus has done through me. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Now God has gifted us with a healthy, happy, good sleeping little baby. God is so good!
